A Whore for Hordes

So... I've been having a difficult time coming up with army lists for my various Elf armies lately. I think I've become too addicted to the concept of the horde army to play anything even remotely elite anymore.

Currently, my painted Fantasy armies are Dwarfs, Empire, Orcs & Goblins, and High Elves - and I play 3 of the 4 of these in a horde or semi-horde style at the 2250 points value.

My Dwarfs currently run just shy of 160 models - my Empire runs just shy of 150 - my Orcs run about 175 models.

My High Elves? About 70. HALF the size that most of my current armies are running... and it's showing on my tactics.

For the last 2 years I've gone more or less High Elf-less, relying on my trio of horde armies to play and win games for me. I've gotten so used to having tons of super cheap units that I'm torn...

Do I try to replicate this with my High Elves? Do I horde them up with say... 4 units of 7 Swordmasters w/Mus, a unit of 6 Dragon Princes, a unit of 12 White Lions (so far hitting between 900 and 950 points), drop a duo of Bolt Throwers, throw out some cheap Nobles (say no more than 500 points allotted to characters), then spam the last 600 points on 2 Spear blocks and 2 Archer units? My model count would still be smaller than 110 or 120... but I'd be dropping 14 deployments to mess with my opponent.

Or maybe I just suck it up and relearn how to play small, elite forces?

Decisions...decisions...

Welcome to CritiMinis!

Welcome to CritiMinis, my newest blog.

This one is going to be all games, all the time - with a focus on Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k?

Why?

Partly because I can, and partly because I'm a long time modeller/painter/gamer, and why my current store on the verge of going under, I want to create a place where I can continue to motivate myself in the hobby.

And... maybe I can pass on some helpful tidbits here and there.
